Suppose, you are Rakibul reading in class ten. You along with your classmates (সহপাঠী) want to make a garden in front of your school. So, you need to talk to the headmaster. Now, write a dialogue between you and the headmaster about making a garden.

ধরা যাক, তুমি দশম শ্রেণীর ছাত্র রাকিবুল। তুমি ও তোমার সহপাঠীরা মিলে স্কুলের সামনে একটি বাগান তৈরি করতে চাও। তাই তোমাদের প্রধান শিক্ষকের সাথে কথা বলা প্রয়োজন। এখন, বাগান তৈরির বিষয়ে তোমার ও প্রধান শিক্ষকের মধ্যে একটি কথোপকথন লেখো।

A Dialogue Between the Principal and You About Making a Garden in Front of Your School

Myself: May I come in sir?

Principal: Yes, come in.

Myself: Good morning sir! How are you, sir?

Principal: I’m fine. What’s the matter with you?

Myself: I’m OK sir. I want to tell you something.

Principal: Yes, of course.

Myself: Sir, our school is big and famous in this locality but we don’t have any garden in front of our school. We want to make a garden.

Principal: That’s a good proposal. We have enough land to make it. Talk to your classmates and other students.

Myself: Sir, I have already talked to my classmates. We have also talked to other classes. All are excited to do it.

Principal: In the tiffin period I will share the matter with the teachers. I am sure all of them will be happy to learn it.

Myself: I think so sir. The garden will enhance the beauty of the school.

Principal: It will also help students to become familiar with different kinds of flowers. By the by, aren’t you going to plant any fruit trees in the garden?

Myself: Yes sir. We have decided to divide the garden in three parts-namely flowers part, fruits part and vegetables part.

Principal: That’s fine. The garden will help you make your practical classes.

Myself: Thank you very much sir for your kind cooperation.

Principal: You’re welcome. 

Myself: Goodbye. Please take care of your health, Sir.

Principal: Bye. See you again.

উপরের ডায়লগটি অনেক সুন্দর করে দেখানো হয়েছে। আমি নিচে প্রতিটি বাক্যকে বাংলায় করে আবার দিচ্ছি যেন শিক্ষার্থীদের বুঝতে সুবিধা হয়। 

Myself: May I come in sir?

আমি: আমি কি ভেতরে আসতে পারি, স্যার?

Principal: Yes, come in.

অধ্যক্ষ: হ্যাঁ, ভেতরে আসো।

Myself: Good morning sir! How are you, sir?

আমি: শুভ সকাল স্যার! আপনি কেমন আছেন, স্যার?

Principal: I’m fine. What’s the matter with you?

অধ্যক্ষ: আমি ভালো আছি। আপনার কী হয়েছে?

Myself: I’m OK sir. I want to tell you something.

আমি: আমি ঠিক আছি, স্যার। আমি আপনাকে একটা কথা বলতে চাই।

Principal: Yes, of course.

অধ্যক্ষ: হ্যাঁ, অবশ্যই।

Myself: Sir, our school is big and famous in this locality but we don’t have any garden in front of our school. We want to make a garden.

আমি: স্যার, আমাদের স্কুলটি এই এলাকায় বেশ বড় ও বিখ্যাত, কিন্তু স্কুলের সামনে কোনো বাগান নেই। আমরা একটি বাগান তৈরি করতে চাই।

Principal: That’s a good proposal. We have enough land to make it. Talk to your classmates and other students.

অধ্যক্ষ: প্রস্তাবটি ভালো। এটি তৈরি করার মতো যথেষ্ট জমি আমাদের আছে। তোমার সহপাঠী ও অন্যান্য শিক্ষার্থীদের সঙ্গে কথা বলো।

Myself: Sir, I have already talked to my classmates. We have also talked to other classes. All are excited to do it.

আমি: স্যার, আমি ইতিমধ্যেই আমার সহপাঠীদের সাথে কথা বলেছি। আমরা অন্যান্য ক্লাসের শিক্ষার্থীদের সাথেও কথা বলেছি। সবাই এটি করার জন্য বেশ আগ্রহী।

Principal: In the tiffin period I will share the matter with the teachers. I am sure all of them will be happy to learn it.

অধ্যক্ষ: টিফিনের সময় আমি বিষয়টি শিক্ষকদের জানাব। আমার বিশ্বাস, এ কথা শুনে তাঁরা সবাই খুশি হবেন।

Myself: I think so sir. The garden will enhance the beauty of the school.

আমি: আমারও তাই মনে হয়, স্যার। বাগানটি স্কুলের সৌন্দর্য বৃদ্ধি করবে।

Principal: It will also help students to become familiar with different kinds of flowers. By the by, aren’t you going to plant any fruit trees in the garden?

অধ্যক্ষ: এটি শিক্ষার্থীদের বিভিন্ন ধরনের ফুলের সাথে পরিচিত হতেও সাহায্য করবে। প্রসঙ্গত, আপনারা কি বাগানে কোনো ফলের গাছ লাগাচ্ছেন না?

Myself: Yes sir. We have decided to divide the garden in three parts-namely flowers part, fruits part and vegetables part.

আমি: জি স্যার। আমরা বাগানটিকে তিনটি ভাগে ভাগ করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছি—ফুল, ফল এবং শাকসবজির অংশ।

Principal: That’s fine. The garden will help you make your practical classes.

অধ্যক্ষ: ঠিক আছে। বাগানটি আপনার ব্যবহারিক ক্লাসগুলোর কাজে সহায়তা করবে।

Myself: Thank you very much sir for your kind cooperation.

আমি: আপনার সদয় সহযোগিতার জন্য আপনাকে অনেক ধন্যবাদ, স্যার।

Principal: You’re welcome. 

অধ্যক্ষ: আপনাকে স্বাগতম।

Myself: Goodbye. Please take care of your health, Sir.

আমি: বিদায়। দয়া করে নিজের স্বাস্থ্যের খেয়াল রাখবেন, স্যার।

Principal: Bye. See you again.

অধ্যক্ষ: বিদায়। আবার দেখা হবে।

A Dialogue Between Two Friends About Making a Garden

Hello, Rashed! How are you?

Rashed: I am fine, thank you. And you?

Anis: I am fine too. What are you doing in that corner of your yard?

Rashed: I am cleaning up this piece of land. I want to make a small flower garden here.

Anis: That is a wonderful idea! But do you know how to make one? I also want a garden, but I do not know where to start.

Rashed: It is very easy, Anis. I can help you if you want.

Anis: Really? Please tell me what I need to do first.

Rashed: First, you need to select a good piece of sunny land and clean away all the weeds and trash.

Anis: What should I do after cleaning the land?

Rashed: You need to dig the soil, mix some compost for nutrients, and leave the soil exposed to the sun for a few days.

Anis: Got it. And then can I plant the flowers?

Rakibul: May I come in, sir?

রাকিবুল: আমি কি ভেতরে আসতে পারি, স্যার?

Headmaster: Yes, please come in. Tell me, what can I do for you?

প্রধান শিক্ষক: হ্যাঁ, ভেতরে আসুন। বলুন, আপনার জন্য কী করতে পারি?

Rakibul: Sir, we would like to make a small garden in front of our school. There is a piece of land in front of our campus where the local cowboys graze their cattle. We want to  use the land for making a small garden.

রাকিবুল: স্যার, আমরা আমাদের স্কুলের সামনে একটি ছোট বাগান করতে চাই। আমাদের ক্যাম্পাসের সামনে এক টুকরো জমি আছে যেখানে স্থানীয় রাখালরা তাদের গবাদি পশু চরায়। আমরা ওই জমিটি একটি ছোট বাগান তৈরির কাজে ব্যবহার করতে চাই।

Headmaster: Well, that’s a good idea. Who is going to execute the plan?

প্রধান শিক্ষক: বেশ, এটা তো ভালো বুদ্ধি। পরিকল্পনাটি কে বাস্তবায়ন করবে?

Rakibul: We, the students of class VII, would execute the plan. Our honourable class teacher, Mr. Morshed gave her consent to co-ordinate the project.

রাকিবুল: আমরা সপ্তম শ্রেণির শিক্ষার্থীরাই এই পরিকল্পনাটি বাস্তবায়ন করব। আমাদের শ্রদ্ধেয় শ্রেণি-শিক্ষক জনাব মোরশেদ এই প্রকল্পটির সমন্বয় সাধনের বিষয়ে সম্মতি দিয়েছেন।

Headmaster: Great! But you know, a garden needs to be taken care of. Are you ready to take the trouble? Besides, you cannot hamper your studies.

প্রধান শিক্ষক: চমৎকার! তবে জানো তো, বাগানের যত্ন নিতে হয়। তুমি কি সেই কষ্টটুকু করতে প্রস্তুত? তাছাড়া, পড়াশোনায় কোনো ব্যাঘাত ঘটানো চলবে না।

Rakibul: Yes, sir. We have it in our mind. We’ll take care of the garden properly. Again, when we become busy with studies, the students of class V & VI will take part in gardening. We will do it by tums.

রাকিবুল: জি স্যার, বিষয়টি আমাদের মাথায় আছে। আমরা বাগানটির যথাযথ যত্ন নেব। আর পড়াশোনার চাপে যখন আমরা ব্যস্ত হয়ে পড়ব, তখন পঞ্চম ও ষষ্ঠ শ্রেণির শিক্ষার্থীরা বাগান পরিচর্যার কাজে অংশ নেবে। আমরা পালাক্রমে এই কাজটি করব।

Headmaster: Why do you suddenly make a plan about making a garden?

প্রধান শিক্ষক: হঠাৎ বাগান করার পরিকল্পনা কেন করছ?

Rakibul: Gardening is a very interesting job. It gives one pleasure. There is also scope to work together. We all can take participate in a task that will add beauty to our school.

রকিবুল: বাগান করা একটি অত্যন্ত চমৎকার কাজ। এটি মনে আনন্দ দেয়। এতে সবাই মিলেমিশে কাজ করার সুযোগও রয়েছে। আমরা সবাই মিলে এমন একটি কাজে অংশ নিতে পারি, যা আমাদের স্কুলের সৌন্দর্য আরও বাড়িয়ে তুলবে।

Headmaster: Can you tell me some benefits or good sides of gardening?

প্রধান শিক্ষক: আপনি কি আমাকে বাগান করার কিছু সুবিধা বা ভালো দিক বলতে পারেন?

Rakibul: Yes, of course. Some of the main educational benefits of school gardening for students: 1. Spending time outdoors; 2. Learning responsibility;  3. School gardens improve grades; 4. Learning practical, real-life skills; 5. Building healthy social habits; 6. Building an appreciation for the world around us.

রাকিবুল: হ্যাঁ, অবশ্যই। শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য স্কুল বাগানের প্রধান শিক্ষামূলক সুবিধাগুলোর মধ্যে রয়েছে: ১. বাইরে বা খোলা পরিবেশে সময় কাটানো; ২. দায়িত্ববোধ শেখা; ৩. স্কুলের ফলাফলের (গ্রেডের) উন্নতি; ৪. ব্যবহারিক ও বাস্তব জীবনের দক্ষতা অর্জন; ৫. সুস্থ সামাজিক অভ্যাস গড়ে তোলা; ৬. চারপাশের জগতের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধাশীল মনোভাব গড়ে তোলা।

Headmaster: I like your plan. Ok, I give you the permission. But you have to write an application to me for that.

প্রধান শিক্ষক: তোমার পরিকল্পনাটি আমার পছন্দ হয়েছে। ঠিক আছে, আমি তোমাকে অনুমতি দিচ্ছি। তবে এর জন্য তোমাকে আমার কাছে একটি আবেদনপত্র লিখতে হবে।

Rakibul: Sure, sir. We’ll submit an application tomorrow.

রকিবুল: অবশ্যই স্যার। আমরা আগামীকাল একটি আবেদন জমা দেব।

Headmaster: Ok.

প্রধান শিক্ষক: ঠিক আছে।

Rakibul: Thanks you, sir.

রকিবুল: আপনাকে ধন্যবাদ, স্যার।

Headmaster: May Allah bless you.
